Evaluation of A Simulation-Based Curriculum for Rotating Residents in the Emergency Department

David Salzman, MD, MEd
Northwestern University

Residents rotating through the Emergency Department (ED) from other departments historically have not received a formalized curriculum in addition to the teaching that occurs clinically in the emergency department. A simulation-based curriculum was developed using an internal needs analysis and published recommendations for a curriculum for rotating residents in the ED. This project seeks to determine the learner’s satisfaction with the new curriculum and to determine if there is any change in confidence in the learner’s as a result of this educational intervention using a one group, pre-test posttest design.
